PWC celebrates National Book Week
The PWC Library and Audio Visual Center led the institution’s celebration of the 84th National Book Week last December 3 & 4, 2018.
With the goal of promoting the love for reading and books to the general public, the National Book Week is an annual celebration spearheaded by the Philippine Librarians’ Association in partnership with NCCA and the NLP held every November 24-30. PWC scheduled its activities on the first week of December to give way to the institution’s fiesta celebration on November 27.
Anchored on this year’s theme “Connected Actions, Collective Vision: Libraries Transforming Society”, PWC’s celebration witnessed various contested events participated by grade school, junior and senior high school, and college students.
Competing in their respective categories, the students showcased skills in storytelling, essay writing, slogan making, poster making, AVP presentation, quiz bowl, and puppet show contest. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd placers for each event were awarded along with the recognition of the 2018 Top Book Borrowers for the student and faculty categories respectively.
“As the storage of knowledge, the library is the place where the future begins,” PWC’s Head Librarian Ms. Delia F. Daligdig said, “thus the significance of this celebration lies in its goal to motivate and encourage students to appreciate and make use of the library.”
Ms. Daligdig also expressed anticipation towards the continuous upgrade of the library materials and facilities specially needed in every program and also the integration of modern technology. According to her, facilities and technology make an institution conducive for excellent education as they attend to the student’s needs in their studies especially in research.
Promotion of the research culture is notably in line with PWC’s goal to offer quality education for college, junior and senior high school, and grade school in Davao City.
