Scholarship Program

The Philippine Women’s College of Davao accepts various kinds of scholarships. This includes but is not limited to athlete scholarships and and the Student Scholarship Program (SSP). The SSP envisions a robust network of institutional, community and educational partners committed to the transformation of individuals and families cognizant of the potentials of education as agent for positive change.

It is the mission of the Student Scholarship Program to provide financial assistance and related services to students who excel in academics and in sports as well as those who otherwise would not have the means to fulfill their educational goal.

Academic Scholarship for Grade 2-12

For Full Scholarship

Full tuition scholarship (100%) is granted automatically to PWC students who garner the top rank (first honors) in the grade level at the end of the year.

For 75% Scholarhsip

Seventy-five percent (75%) tuition scholarship is granted to PWC students who garner the second top rank (second honors) in the grade level at the end of the year.

For 50% Scholarship

Fifty percent (50%) tuition scholarship is granted to PWC students who garner the third top rank (third honors) in the grade level at the end of the year.

Academic Scholarship for Incoming Grade 7 Students

This scholarship is given to top three graduates of both public and private elementary schools.  They are inherently entitled to 100%, 75%, and 50% tuition fee discount respectively, provided that the number of graduates from the school they came from is not less than 100 in that given academic year.  Said data (on rank and school population) should be supported by a certification from the school principal.

However, the top three graduates from schools with less than 100 graduates can still avail of the scholarship provided they pass the Mental Ability Test administered by the school’s Guidance Center and obtain the minimum grade requirement for the entitlement.

PWC top three students are entitled to this scholarship regardless of the number of graduates.

Academic Scholarship for incoming College Students

This scholarship is granted to PWC Senior High School graduates who garnered 90% and above of general weighted average (GWA). The same will be merited to SHS graduates from public and private high schools, provided that the number of graduates from the school they came from is not less than 100 in that given academic year.  

100% tuition fee discount shall be given to SHS graduates who garnered 95% and above of GWA; and 50% tuition fee discount to SHS graduates with 90% to 94% of GWA.

However, applicants for academic scholarship from schools with less than 100 graduates can still avail of the scholarship provided they pass the Mental Ability Test administered by the school’s Guidance Center and obtain the minimum grade requirement for the entitlement.  

PWC SHS graduates are entitled to this scholarship regardless of the number of graduates provided that they reach the minimum GWA requirement.

Student Assistance Program

The Student Assistance Program is designed to provide PWC college students with financial support in their pursuit of academic goals and provide opportunities for academic or administrative job experience. The job duties and responsibilities of student assistants vary greatly and may not be related to their field of study.

The Student Assistance Program is open to students who desire to earn a college degree, but need financial assistance. Students who qualify attend evening classes and work five days a week for seven hours during weekdays. He/she enjoys free tuition and miscellaneous fees and a daily allowance.

Qualification for Applicants

  • A high school graduate with a final average grade (WPA) of not lower than 80% with no failing grade during the final grading period during his/her senior year.
  • Willing to work in an office setting or can do manual labor.
  • Possesses good moral character, with good work attitude and motivation to succeed in his/her academic pursuits.
  • Belongs to a family/household with low or no income.

Sports Scholarship Program

The PWC Sports Scholarship program is primarily designed to help and support athletes to achieve their potential. It is awarded to an individual student based predominantly on his or her ability to play a certain sport.

The program is intentionally funded by the Philippine Women’s College of Davao. However, grants from interested benefactors – acknowledged and approved by the school administration, may be accepted.

The Sports Scholarship Program mainly focuses on giving financial assistance to qualified PWC Students who show exemplary performance both as an athlete and as a student.

The members of the Varsity Team are not automatically eligible to the sports scholarship.

Sports Eligibility

The following Sports are duly recognized by the institution to open Sports Scholarship position with a maximum fifteen (15) athlete scholars per team:

 

  • Basketball- Men & Women
  • Volleyball- Men & Women
For Full Scholarship

Full Scholarship for athlete-scholars means 100% tuition fee discount per trimester.  The scholar shall shoulder the cost of miscellaneous and other fees.

However, if the student is enrolled in the evening program, full scholarship shall mean 100% tuition and 100% miscellaneous fee discount per trimester.

This full scholarship status is granted to an athlete who has exceptional skill and ability in his chosen field, has taken part in a national sports competition and has brought honor to the PWC of Davao in a regional/national competition.

Partial (50%) Scholarship

 Partial 50% Scholarship for athlete-scholars means 50% tuition fee discount per trimester, if the scholar is enrolled in the regular program.  If enrolled in the evening program, it shall mean 50% tuition and 50% miscellaneous fee discount per trimester.

Partial (25%) Scholarship

Partial 25% Scholarship for athlete-scholars means 25% tuition fee discount per trimester.  This scholarship shall be granted only to college students enrolled in the regular program.

  • Endorsement from the Head Coach signed by the SP Head, noted by the Program Dean, Dean of College, SSP in-Charge and approved by the Vice President for Institutional Development

  • Proof of Participation (e.g. photocopies of certificates, photos of medals, trophies and the applicant during games)
