ABOUT FPIC

Food Processing Innovation Center

The Food Processing Innovation Center-Davao (FPIC-Davao) was established through the High Impact Technology Solutions (HITS) program of the Department of Science and Technology.

It is a collaborative undertaking of the Department of Science and Technology XI, Philippine Women’s College of Davao, Department of Trade and Industry XI, Food Processing Association of Davao, Inc., and the Local Government of Davao City. It serves as a hub for innovations, and support services for value-adding of fresh produce and development of processed foods.

The Food Processing Innovation Center- Davao (FPIC-Davao) was established through the High Impact Technology Solutions (HITS) program of the Department of Science and Technology. It is a collaborative undertaking of the Department of Science and Technology XI, Philippine Women’s College of Davao, Department of Trade and Industry XI, Food Processors Association of Davao, Inc., and the Local Government of Davao City. It serves as a hub for innovations, and support services for value-adding of fresh produce and development of processed foods. Through FPIC- Davao, innovative technologies, relevant support services, technical expertise, necessary infrastructures, and facilities will be more accessible for Food Technology faculty, researchers, students, and food processors in the urban centers and countryside for a more effective technology application and commercialization for continued economic growth.

PREPARING FUTURE
LEADERS IN THE INDUSTRY

The food industry is one of the largest manufacturing industries in the world. The constant development of new technology and the ever-increasing food manufacturing plants in the Philippines will cause the need for more food technologists in the years to come.

To match the labor force needed in food manufacturing industries, Philippine Women’s College of Davao opened the Bachelor of Science in Food Technology (BSFT) course. This degree program trains students in applying the principles and science of food manufacturing process. They are guided with highly competent instructors with a wealth of industrial and teaching experience. Modern on-campus food processing facilities and laboratories are made available to give the students first hand experience in the world of food technology.
