PWC completes relief distribution project for vulnerable members
As the global health crisis hit the country last March, PWC of Davao took swift action to mitigate its impact on the most vulnerable members of the PWC community.
Among those initiatives was the PWCares Relief Effort which aimed to lighten the burden of the pandemic and consequential restrictions on employees, student assistants, and third-party personnel (security and maintenance).
Qualified beneficiaries among personnel were those identified as breadwinners, solo parents, belonging to low-income category, living with a person with a major health concern, and whose household income was affected by the implementation of the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ).
PWC through the offices of Administrative Services, Community Extension Services, Student Affairs, and Human Resource Development conducted a house-to-house distribution of rice, noodles, canned goods, hygiene kits, medicines, and other provisions in the form of relief packs. This was to help augment the essential and basic needs that may have been difficult to meet due to financial constraints and the restrictions of the ECQ.

The team was able to supply 4 batches of relief packs through monthly distribution from March to June.
Normally focused on extending aid to adopted communities and disaster victims outside the school, the Institutional Community Extension Services Office was faced with a rare (albeit not a first) opportunity to direct its efforts solely to PWC’s own people in the time of crisis.
“Definitely, schools including PWC are also greatly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in terms of finances and operations,” Head of the Institutional Community Services Paolo Gaudencio Naval shared, “but we are grateful that the institution did not hesitate to look after its employees and devised feasible solutions in these times where businesses all over the world are driven to lay-off employees and even declare closure.”
With the city’s shift to Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ), PWC continues to observe health protocols mandated by the national and local government to ensure the safety of its workforce and stakeholders in the conduct of its operations.
