PWC unveils FCB Building through ceremonial blessing
The PWC community gathered to attend the ceremonial blessing of the FCB Building last July 5, 2019.
The building named in honor of PWC founders Francisca and Conrado Benitez marks a milestone as it was built to address the growing population of enrollees which, in this school year 2019-2020, has registered the highest number in PWC’s history.
The Munting Bayanihan dance group opened the event in a cultural presentation reflecting the different regions of the country, encapsulating PWC’s penchant for the arts and heritage.
Board members, administrators, alumni, and personnel graced the ecumenical blessing led by religious leaders from different faiths: Pastor Norman C. Naromal of the Davao Bible Community Church, Imam (Ustadh) Eisa Javier of the Mercy Islamic Foundation, and Rev. John Patrick P. Pelonio of San Pablo Parish.
PWC president Conrado L. Benitez II reminisced how he was able to attend PWC’s groundbreaking back in 1953 with his grandparents, sharing how several generations of the Benitez family have overseen the institution’s growth and shall continue to extend the founders’ legacy as educators.
In his closing remarks, Vice President for Institutional Development Vicente Antonio V. Pijano III commended the PWC community’s hard work put into the construction of the building and expressed hopes for it to serve its function best as the institution continues to strive for educational excellence and the uplifting of the common good.
The FCB Building construction began in August last year to accommodate Senior High School enrollees and is fully functional this school year. PWC notably piloted Senior High School in Davao and has since then experienced a surge of enrollees, leading to the addition of facilities and schedule shifts that ensure quality learning and experience.
