The DCWD has selected the Philippine Women’s College of Davao to be one of amongst 17 recipient educational institutions who are adopting land area at the Malagos watershed which can be utilized for the school’s forthcoming tree planting activities.
Watersheds are important because the surface water features and stormwater runoff within a watershed ultimately drain to other bodies of water. It is essential to consider these downstream impacts when developing and implementing water quality protection and restoration actions, As such, the Malagos Watershed is one of our pivotal sources of water in the City and neighboring areas.
It is with great urgency that such area is to be protected and developed in favor of mother nature and in favor of the people who benefit from its existence.
This partnership is a huge win for all parties involved. With the adopted land area that can be utilized for tree planting activities, students from the Philippine Women’s College of Davao can immerse themselves with nature and do their contribution in preserving nature and helping the environment. This greatly falls in line with the Philwomenian educational philosophy of “learning by doing” or “experiential learning”.
