PWC Chancellor Leads Discussions on AI in Education
Prof. Vicente Antonio V. Pijano III, PWC Chancellor and COO, has been at the forefront of discussions on Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education, recently speaking at two key events.
Chancellor Pijano was the keynote speaker at the AI Summit 2024, organized by the Royal Pontifical University of Santo Tomas, USAID-UPSKILL Project, PEAC, Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities (PACU). This summit brought together experts here and abroad to explore the multifaceted impact of AI on education, the workplace, and society as a whole.
The focus was on navigating both the benefits and challenges of AI. Attendees discussed how AI can enhance productivity and creativity while acknowledging accuracy, security, and potential bias concerns.
The summit emphasized the importance of a human-centered approach to AI in education, prioritizing protecting human agency and ensuring AI advancements benefit learners. Key goals were to foster collaboration, showcase emerging AI technologies, promote ethical use, and encourage responsible AI policy development at all levels.
Earlier this month, Chancellor Pijano also participated as a lead facilitator at the PACU Seminar Writeshop entitled: “Harnessing AI Potential: A Policy Writeshop on Acceptable Use in Education.” This event, held on March 4, 2024, at the Rise Tower, Our Lady of Fatima University (OLFU) in Valenzuela City, included both in-person and online participation via Zoom teleconferencing.
The seminar writeshop was made possible with the support of the Private Education Assistance Committee (PEAC), Our Lady of Fatima University, and USAID – RTI International UPSKILL Project.
Chancellor Pijano’s participation in these events highlights his commitment to keeping at the forefront of educational innovation and responsible AI integration.
