Grade school students attend DCWD Water Conservation Forum

Never too young—PWC Grade 3 students take early steps towards environmental awareness as they attended the Forum on Water Conservation held in the campus last January 31, 2019.

The forum was an initiative of the PWC BED Community Extension Services in partnership with Davao City Water District (DCWD) as part of the Greenow Program, PWC’s environmental advocacy. Under this, students from Kinder to Grade 10 are designated a development program for environmental efforts wherein water conservation was assigned for the Grade 3 pupils.

Jovana Cresta T. Duhaylungsod, officer-in-charge of Public Information/Relations Division and deputy spokesperson of DCWD led the forum and activity. DCWD has also been boosting its efforts on promoting water conservation among the youth with its own DCWD Goes-to-School Project.

“PWC and DCWD share the same mindset that it’s never too early when it comes to educating the students,” said BED Community Extension Services coordinator Paolo S. Naval, “there is no such thing as ‘too young’ when you want to promote [environmental consciousness].

The students were taught about the significance of conserving water and the things they can do to contribute, including sharing the information to their peers and family. At the end of the session, they made a pledge to take part in the conservation efforts.
