BED excels in sports events
Students of the PWC Basic Education Department dominated various sports events in December 2019 to January 2020.
Marv Denzel Rubio aced his chess competitions starting with the 3rd UM Interschool Invitational Chess Championship last December 20-21, 2019, where he was declared champion and best male performer in the Under 14 Category. On January 23 this year, he placed second in the 4th Edition MDYCC Fide Rated Standard Chess Tournament at the UM Student Study Hub.
Further, the boys’ basketball team landed second runner-up at the Gaisano Grand Cup 3 on 3 held last January 12, 2020. The team was composed of students Gerodh Gomez, Lowell Jay Aragones, Romeo Langa Jr., and Kent Canono.

The girls’ basketball team also started 2020 with a remarkable feat, having emerged as champion at the Faith International Academy 2020 Girls’ Basketball Tournament. Proud coach Butch Lawrence Bencio and assistant coach Lariza Irina Manug led the team through the one-day league on January 18. The winning team included Yanabelle Sabanal, Jewel Gicale, Michaela Bracero, Mary Grace Sarmiento, Nina Sofia Lagdameo, Jean Adlawan, Abreina Sopheia Baba, Mary Ann Remerata, Creeza Trasmil, Kylene Cocoy, Marguirre Lequin, Zyrha Arcadio, and Trisha Aquino.
