PWC BSTM holds Digital Safari

The PWC BS Tourism Management – Events Management class successfully held the Digital Safari 2019 last March 15, 2019 at The Ritz Hotel at Garden Oases.

With the theme “Promoting Tourism Through Responsible Influencing”, the forum aimed to educate people particularly future industry practitioners about the impacts of sharing and influencing as a tool for promoting and marketing destinations. Such awareness is essential as the demand for modern tourism management in Davao has only been growing parallel to development.

The one-day event provided an avenue for Tourism Management students from different schools in the region to engage and interact with one another, witness a special performance by the Popping Tribe of Davao, and most importantly gain significant learnings and draw inspiration from the speakers.

The roster of distinguished speakers included Apple Allison, a passionate tourism advocate, digital marketing specialist, events organizer, among others, Jojie Alcantara, a multi-awarded photographer, artist, and social media influencer whose works have been featured in DOT’s tourism campaigns and international magazines, and Olan Emboscado who is also a multi-awarded travel blogger who has garnered recognition for his tourism advocacies in Mindanao. The three shared their stories and experiences in promoting tourism and expressed hopes for the future tourism advocates.

Prospects for tourism students are exciting as the tourism industry in Davao is projected to go greater heights. In fact, the City Tourism Office expects 2.8 million tourists this year, considering the line-up of conventions and sports events as well as the opening of new international routes that lead to the influx of tourist arrivals.
