It is a defining year for the PWC sports community as the Patriots brought home stellar and even historic achievements from the Davao Association of Catholic Schools (DACS) College Sportsfest 2019.

Sixteen Catholic colleges and universities from and outside Davao City took part in the different sports and cultural events held last September 23-29, 2019. With Ateneo de Davao University as the host school, this year’s theme, “Yes, YOUth can!” speaks of DACS’ vision to empower the youth and establish a community through sports.

A definite highlight was the PWC Patriots men’s basketball team marking their place in PWC history as they emerged as champions, following their victory over the Cor Jesu College Red Lions last October 6, 2019. The bout with the team from Digos City was PWC’s first appearance in the finals since 1999, and the championship its first ever in the highly coveted DACS basketball event.

The Patriots’ overall feat is undeniably the result of the athletes’ prowess and dedication in sports coupled with unrelenting support from sports heads, coaches, and peers. This year’s performance brings a timely spotlight to the sports program, as the institution explores intensive development in many key areas—possibly giving an exciting prospect for sports development.
