PWC of Davao through the Institutional Community Extension Services (ICES) Office turned over essential and non-perishable goods to the Archdiocesan Nourishment Center last December 3, 2020 in line with the institution’s commitment to mitigating the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on partner communities.
Established by different lay movements of the Archdiocese of Davao following the call of Pope Francis to reach out to those in the periphery of society, ANC has spearheaded services such as feeding programs for malnourished children, medical and dental assistance, regular human and spiritual formation to children and their parents, and educational assistance to the beneficiaries. PWC formalized its partnership with ANC through the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) Signing Ceremony early last year.
In this time of health crisis, PWC recognizes the struggle of many families under the care of the ANC and thus extended support to the center’s Share-A-Gift project for their indigent beneficiaries. This project aims to provide gift packs consisting of food and toiletries to beneficiaries who are especially affected by the economic downturn and unemployment brought about by COVID-19. Spearheaded by Ms. Ma. Liberty Cadungog, ICES in-charge for TED, the PWC ICES team turned over canned goods, condiments, and toiletries to Sr. Nerissa Batiao, administration head of the ANC.
“Despite being in the midst of a pandemic, PWC found ways to maximize resources and reach out to assist these parents who are struggling to provide for their families,” shared Ms. Cadungog, “I am personally thankful to be in the ICES office for this opportunity to serve.”
“Since we cannot conduct activities with the ANC and other partner communities at the moment, the least we can do is focus on mitigation,” added Mr. Paolo Gaudencio Naval, ICES head, “with regards to future initiatives, we are looking forward to implement the Padayon Skwela, Luwas Skwela program geared to aid our 3 adopted schools in delivering quality education amidst the health crisis.”
The Archdiocesan Nourishment Center is still accepting in-kind or cash donations for the Share-a-Gift project. To inquire/donate, contact the center at 285-1524 / 09233425372 (Sun) or 09276011903 (Globe).
