Metrobank Foundation conducts MADE information campaign
Attending one of the few schools to offer Fine Arts course in Davao, PWC Senior High – Arts and Design and college Fine Arts students took part in an information campaign on the Metrobank Arts and Design Excellence (MADE) competition last March 28, 2019.
MADE is an annual visual arts competition by the Metrobank Foundation Inc. (MBFI) that has been a platform to showcase and empower the ingenuity of the Filipino creative, particularly emerging artists, for more than 3 decades now.
Henri Palma and Nicole Dorig of the Metrobank Foundation led the campaign, discussing the background and mechanics of the prestigious national art competition. Full-time artist and MADE 2018 award recipient Francis Eugene Andrade also graced the event and delivered an inspiring talk on his personal journey as an individual and artist. He generously shared the inspiration for his pieces, with a highlight on his winning piece entitled “The Sacrifice”.
On its 35th year, MADE is once again calling for artists aged 18-35 years old to participate in its painting and sculpture competitions with the theme “Unleash”.
Last year, five PWC Fine Arts students(among which two were alumni) made it to the final stages of the competition. Third year BFA Painting student Eloisa Sanson in particular placed as a national finalist with her piece “Little Talks”. Notably, Fine Arts faculty Jun Pamisa has also been a MADE awardee for two years; with Pamisa as the last grand awardee from Mindanao in 2001, the Metrobank Foundation has expressed hopes to discover and empower more artists from the region.
