The Philippine Women’s College of Davao’s Tourism Management program (BSTM) celebrated World Tourism Day at the RSM Events Center last Wednesday, September 27, 2017.
The focus during the whole day activity was Davao City. Speakers from the City Tourism Office (CTO) graced the morning program, wherein they’ve provided a very substantive, engaging and informative discourse on the history of Davao City, along with trivia and tidbits that the Tourism Management students from the college and their SHS counterpart have definitely learned something from.
“The idea behind having a whole day activity focused on Davao City is because Davao is our home. And we should start promoting the city that we live in,” the speakers said.
The afternoon affair was graced by speakers from the Davao Tourism Association (DATA) and the Davao Digital Influencers. They further encouraged tourism students to promote Davao City, whilst also discussing about video blogging and blogging as possible avenues and platforms to propel their agenda of spreading the “good word” of Davao City not just to their friends and followers, but to people all over the world with the use of social media.
Interested students where also invited to join the Davao Digital Influencers, a SEC registered Social Media Organization spearheaded by Glen Santillan, to become an “official” influencer of Davao City.
All in all, amidst the continuous surge of “globalization” and interconnection between different cultures from all over the world, it is great to see a change of pace as the tourism students were given a taste of so much more that Davao City and the Davao Region at large has to offer.
