PWC partnered with Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) to host an environmental forum entitled “Usapang Luntiang Kapaligiran” last July 29, 2019 at the RSM Events Center.

The event was made possible through the collaboration of the PWC TED Office of Student Affairs, Office of the Community Extension Services, and NSTP along with VSO’s “Ridge to Reef Bayanihan” initiative.

VSO  is an international organization that brings people of diverse backgrounds and professions together to combat social and environmental problems and has been working with different institutions to realize its goals.

Resource speaker and VSO volunteer Reinita S. Navarro engaged the audience in a short activity and raised pressing environmental issues, encouraging them to take part in volunteerism. She also shared about VSO’s initiatives, particularly activities the organization facilitated in celebration of its 60th year. These include mangrove tree planting, coastal cleanups, volunteerism exhibits, among others.

Last year, PWC’s Fine Arts program participated in VSO’s “Painting for Peace” project wherein students and faculty engaged in mural painting at Buhangin Central Elementary School.
